Tailscale Community Projects
Tailscale Community Projects is a curated collection of community-supported open source projects built on Tailscale's platform. These projects showcase the breadth of how you can use Tailscale's networking and identity primitives to build secure, private tools for organizations and communities.
Tailscale Community Projects fall into the following categories:
- Apps: Applications deployed by the user inside their Tailscale network (known as a tailnet) that natively leverage Tailscale.
- Tools: Programs and scripts that users run manually or in a pipeline for a smoother Tailscale admin experience.
- Extensions: Applications that a user deploys to modify or extend Tailscale's core functionality.
- Interfaces: Applications that let users interact with Tailscale on their devices in new ways beyond our standard Tailscale clients or web interface.
The platform includes projects started by Tailscale, as well as projects from the broader Tailscale community. For details about the available projects, see the Tailscale Community Projects catalog.
Consideration for inclusion
Inclusion in the catalog is at the sole discretion of Tailscale, and there is no guarantee that a project will be featured. If you would like your project to be considered for inclusion, see the instructions in the Community Projects catalog.
Some key aspects considered when a project is submitted are that it is:
- Open source: Third-party community projects can carry any valid Open Source Initiative (OSI) license. Projects should have their own repositories where community members can view the code and contribute issues and pull requests.
- Actively maintained: Although no specific work to address issues/bugs is expected, we ask that projects aim to fix any reported security vulnerabilities as soon as possible.
- In compliance. Projects submitted should be compliant with published Tailscale guidelines.
Tailscale will periodically monitor projects in the catalog to ensure they continue to meet these requirements. We reserve the right to remove projects from the catalog for any reason.
