Simpler, smarter, more connected: Fall Update Week

Rectangular shape labeled "Fall Update: Day 1" in the upper-left corner. A grid of squircles, cirlces, and corners are arranged to resemble autumn and harvest themes: corn, stone fruit, acorns, and chopped trees.
Welcome to Fall Update Week: a week of shipping and showing, capped with a Friday review. We’re making secure networking boring, in the good way—across people, services, and the glue code in-between. Expect launches, demos, and community chats that turn “Why is this so hard?” into “Oh, that just works.”

I wanted to headline this with a nod to Daft Punk: harder, better, faster, stronger. But that's not quite the right vibe. This week's theme is better put as: simpler, smarter, more connected.

If you run security, the goal is less policy anxiety, a clearer sense of "who can talk to what.” If you’re IT, you want fewer one-off firewall adventure tickets. If you’re an engineer or SRE, you seek more time building inside the network and less time routing around it. And if you’re a platform person with “machines that aren’t really machines,” they should finally feel first-class.

All this week (Oct. 27-30), we're going to keep on shipping and presenting, with webinars, videos, blog posts, and talks covering many of them. On Friday, we'll recap it all, and talk about what's next.

Why this is one of our biggest weeks

This isn’t one giant “Ta-da!” It’s a lot of sharp, well-fitting pieces landing together so you hit fewer “Why is this so hard?” moments. Fewer detours. More done.

If you watch carefully, you'll see this week's pattern. The network should act like the relationships you actually care about: people, services, permissions. It should not feel like a maze of IPs and ports. Configuration should be boring, predictable, and hard to mess up.

It’s a lot—on purpose. We’ve been laying foundations all year; this week is where all those pieces finally click and the whole is bigger than the sum of its parts.

A quick thank-you

This week only lands because our engineering and product teams have been obsessing over details for months: building small pieces that fit together cleanly, dogfooding in cursed environments, and fixing the bugs they found while fixing the bugs. It’s careful work, and I’m proud of it.
