Anchras: Building Sovereign Clouds with Tailscale

Anchras is a self-hosted infrastructure platform built in Belgium. It turns bare-metal Proxmox hosts into a European-sovereign alternative to the hyperscalers: VMs, Kubernetes, object storage, GPUs, and an app catalog, all on hardware you control, without rebuilding a decade of cloud networking from scratch. The trick is Tailscale. Every hypervisor, VM, and cluster joins a tailnet the moment its agent registers, which gives us private networking between data centers, offices, and homelabs with zero VPN configuration.

In this talk, I'll show how we use tailnets as the platform's control and data plane: per-organization providers, ACLs managed through a visual editor, Tailscale Funnel for exposing workloads to the public internet. And I'll share the lessons (and the scars) from trying to make "sovereign cloud" more than a buzzword.
